Community News from the Garden Quarter of Chester

The Community Coffee Morning held at the Uniting Church in Garden Lane on Saturday 4 May was once again very well supported and raised £228 for Dorin Park School.  The school in Upton-by-Chester provides a specialist learning environment for students with complex and/or physical learning needs.  Picture (attached) is of Angela Black, chair of 'Friends of Dorin Park School' addressing the people present at the coffee morning.  Also pictured right (standing), is the Minister the Reverend Martin Hardy.
The members of the "Uniting Church" once again wish to particularly thank those members of the Garden Quarter and surrounding neighbourhoods who helped bake cakes for the coffee morning.  Also for the continuing support of the community, for these very popular occasions which have raised thousands of pounds for local charities over the years.
The next Community Coffee Morning at the "Uniting Church" will be on Saturday 1 June 2013 from 10.30am - 12 noon when all proceeds will be donated to Chester Lodging and Support Providers, a charity working with homeless people to achieve independence.
Admission will be £2 to include Fairtrade coffee or tea and cake or scone.  There will be the usual cake stall, a raffle with quality prizes and secondhand books on sale.
